Far Infrared Saunas detoxification and weight loss benefits
ImageFar Infrared saunas have the ability to directly heat the body without having to first heat the room in the air and do not require the creation of steam to be effective.  In contrast, regular saunas are usually within closed and well-insulated rooms heated by rock furnaces where temperatures can exceed 200 degrees Fahrenheit.  At such high temperatures, steam forms due to pouring of water on heated rocks. The entire room, including the air is heates which in turn will heat up the body of the sauna bather. is 115-130 degrees Fahrenheit.

Heat penetrates body tissue by 1.5 cm
Through the Infrared Thermal System, Infrared rays go can penetrate body tissue to approximately 1.5 cm. The body will absorb more than 93% of Infrared waves. This will cause the inner body organs and muscles to warm. This absorption will also increase the rate of heartbeat, which can benefit various cardiovascular activities. As the body tries to cool itself, metabolic rates increase and blood flow increases during such hypothermic reactions from 5-7quart per minute to around 13 quarts.

Far Infrared saunas induce 3 times the volume of sweat
Regular saunas heat the room and air within, through convection, this in turn heats up body of user through conduction of heat. Infrared saunas need even less than 20% energy to heat the air within the room while the remaining 80% of energy is available for generating heat within the body’s internal organs. Such infrared energy causes approximately 2-3 times more sweat than regular saunas. However, the temperature of Infrared saunas is at a comfortable 110-130 degrees Fahrenheit. Regular saunas reach considerably higher temperatures at approximately 180-235 degrees Fahrenheit.

Burn more calories comfortably with Infrared heat
Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in its August 7, 1981 issue stated that people who run do so to build muscles and more importantly put pressure on their cardiovascular systems to improve their functioning.  Similarly, saunas are very effective in burning calories and developing the cardiovascular system.  Producing one gram of sweat requires 0.586 kcal of energy according to reports of Guyton's Textbook of Medical Physiology.  With these saunas inducing up to 3 times the volume of sweat over traditional saunas, far infrared saunas are very effective for those who cannot exercise due to physical challenges.
Lower heat range is safer
Infrared heat penetrates deep into the body and causes healthy and cleansing sweat despite comfortable temperatures. Fresh and well-ventilated Infrared saunas maintain temperatures at comfortable levels of 110 – 130 degrees Fahrenheit, whereas regular saunas will heat up the room to very high and uncomfortable levels. The heat energy of these systems directly heats up the body, and not the atmosphere.  The operating costs for the Infrared systems is considerably less than that of regular saunas. These systems cost approximately 5 cents for twenty minutes of electricity while regular saunas will cost approximately $0.75 to $1.00 for same amount of time.

Its easier to breathe
The air temperature in these type of saunas is 50 – 125 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than the air temperature in a regular sauna. The cooler air temperature results in ease of breathing, another reason why these saunas are gaining popularity. Although the inner body core temperature remains warm, causing sweat, the temperature inside the sauna remains comfortable.   Infrared Saunas only require 5 – 10 minutes to heat up before use, whereas a regular sauna requires approximately half an hour. Maintenance is minimal and cleaning is simple, making Infrared saunas a clear choice for many owners.

Benefits over Dry and Steam Varieties
Far Infrared saunas relax the total body and provide relief from chronic ailments such as arthritis, muscular pain and fatigue. They can strengthen the immune system, decrease blood pressure, and reduce cellulite deposits. Sauna heat causes a fever-like situation within body. This induces the vital organs to gear up and combat fever. This causes sweat, which excretes uric acid, lactic acid and other toxic substances from the body and makes the body healthier. It increases blood circulation to skin, removes blocked pores, improves skin tone and elasticity and brings about an inner glow. It relieves stiffness of joints and muscles, thereby reducing fatigue and stress.
